ABOUT THE FAMILY
A warm, easygoing family in Orinda is seeking an experienced Career Nanny to join their household and grow with their family long-term. They currently have an almost 2-year-old son and are expecting their second baby boy in November. With plans to eventually have three children, they are hoping to find someone who can become a trusted and lasting part of their family for years to come.
Both parents work full-time, with Mom occasionally working from home. Mom will be on maternity leave for approximately six months following the baby’s arrival and plans to return to work in April. This will provide a nice transition period for the new nanny to get to know the family, bond with both children, and settle into a rhythm before Mom returns to work.
The family values a collaborative relationship with their nanny and describes themselves as easygoing and respectful. Reliability and punctuality are especially important to them, and they are equally conscientious about respecting their nanny’s time and relieving them promptly at the end of the day.
THEIR IDEAL FIT
The ideal candidate is a seasoned, energetic Career Nanny who genuinely enjoys the pace of caring for multiple young children. They are looking for someone who can confidently juggle the needs of a newborn and an active toddler while remaining calm, organized, and engaged.
This person should be proactive and naturally notice what needs attention without requiring a great deal of direction. Whether organizing the children’s clothing, noticing that supplies are running low, preparing a simple meal, or resetting the children’s spaces at the end of the day, they would love someone who takes pride in helping things run smoothly.
Above all, this is a child-focused position. The children will always be the priority, with household and family-assistant support fitting naturally around their needs.
The family is looking for someone who is willing and able to travel with them approximately 2–3 times per year. Travel will not be frequent, but flexibility and comfort with occasional family travel are important.
CHILDCARE DUTIES
Provide loving, attentive care for both the toddler and newborn
Manage the children’s daily routines, schedules, naps, meals, and activities
Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that support each child’s development
Confidently balance the needs of two young children at different developmental stages
Prepare simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children
Keep children’s bedrooms, play areas, and common spaces organized and tidy
Manage and organize children’s clothing, toys, gear, and belongings
Keep track of children’s supplies and communicate proactively with parents when items need to be replenished
Help maintain a consistent, organized rhythm for the children as the family grows
FAMILY ASSISTANT DUTIES
Light dishes and kitchen cleanup related to the family’s daily routine
Simple meal preparation as time allows
Children’s laundry and organization
Help reset and tidy the home at the end of the day
Family laundry is a wonderful plus
Proactively assist with light household needs when childcare responsibilities allow
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional career nanny experience
Strong infant/newborn experience
Experience caring for toddlers and managing multiple young children
Confident balancing the needs of children at different developmental stages
Highly reliable and exceptionally punctual
Proactive, organized, and able to anticipate needs
Warm, positive, engaging, and easygoing
Strong communication skills and comfortable partnering closely with parents
Comfortable working alongside a parent during maternity leave and with an occasional work-from-home parent
Interested in a long-term position and excited to grow alongside an expanding family
To ensure the success of our nanny position, we have established the following requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of recent, professional experience in childcare.
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Impressive references from past employers, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and exceptional childcare skills.
Willingness to undergo two background checks, namely Trustline and Nanny Verify, ensuring the safety and security of our children.
Valid U.S. citizenship or work authorization.
Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CPR certification (if applicable).
Current vaccinations, including flu, Tdap, and proof of Covid-19 vaccination and boosters.
