THEIR GENUINE NANNY

Meet Our Sunflower Family!

About the Family

A warm, welcoming family in the heart of Hayes Valley is seeking an experienced career nanny to become a long-term member of their family. They have one sweet and happy 12-month-old son, and are looking for someone deeply passionate about early childhood development, who enjoys being actively engaged with young children, and values building a genuine connection with the family they support.

Both parents work from home, creating a collaborative environment where communication and partnership are valued. Mom has a flexible consulting schedule, while Dad has a more structured workday. They are hoping to find someone who feels like the right personality fit above all else: someone kind, warm, intelligent, incredibly reliable, and naturally invested in helping their son thrive.

The family would especially value a nanny who understands child development and can thoughtfully support his communication, language development, and overall growth through everyday play and interaction.

Located steps from Alamo Square Park and surrounded by parks, libraries, and neighborhood activities, this is an ideal role for a nanny who loves getting children out into the community for enriching daily adventures.

Their Ideal Candidate

This family is looking for an experienced, highly reliable nanny who genuinely loves the infant and toddler years and brings a strong understanding of early childhood development. Their ideal candidate is naturally engaged and communicative and understands how much learning happens through everyday conversation, play, reading, music, outings, and routines.

A background in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Speech and Language support, Montessori, RIE, Reggio Emilia, or a similar child development philosophy would be highly valued, although hands-on experience and a strong understanding of toddler development are equally important.

Reliability is an absolute priority for this family. They need someone punctual, dependable, organized, and communicative who can be counted on consistently. At the same time, they would appreciate someone with some flexibility to occasionally come early, stay late, provide overnight care, and travel with the family.

Excellent English and strong communication skills are required. A second language, ideally Spanish, would be a wonderful bonus.

Above all, they are looking for someone warm, positive, emotionally intelligent, and nurturing who will develop a genuine bond with Skyler and become a trusted part of their family.

Responsibilities

Childcare & Development

  • Provide loving, attentive, and developmentally focused care for one toddler

  • Intentionally support speech and language development through daily interaction and play

  • Read books, sing songs, tell stories, and encourage communication throughout the day

  • Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development

  • Take regular outings to parks, playgrounds, libraries, story times, classes, and neighborhood activities

  • Support healthy sleep, feeding, and daily routines

  • Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks for Skyler, such as eggs, oatmeal, pasta, and other toddler-friendly foods

  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding Skyler’s day, development, milestones, and progress

  • Rotate toys and create stimulating, age-appropriate learning opportunities

  • Practice safe and attentive supervision at all times

Child & Light Household Support

The role is primarily focused on their son but the family would appreciate someone comfortable pitching in with light household tasks during natural downtime, including:

  • Washing and putting away dishes

  • Children’s laundry and occasional household laundry

  • Keeping children’s spaces organized and tidy

  • Unpacking groceries

  • Breaking down delivery boxes

  • Taking out the trash

  • Helping maintain an organized and smoothly running environment

Additional Household Details

The family lives in a quintessential San Francisco home on a hill. There is a flight of stairs leading to the front door and another flight of stairs inside the home, so candidates should be comfortable navigating stairs throughout the day. The stroller is conveniently stored in the garage.

The family does not currently have pets but may welcome a dog or cat in the future, so comfort around animals is preferred.

Mom rides horses, and will occasionally want the nanny to come along to the barn. A candidate who enjoys animals and is comfortable around horses would be wonderful.
