About the Family
A busy single-parent household in beautiful Mill Valley is looking for an energetic, organized, and proactive Child-Focused Household Manager / Family Assistant to become a trusted part of their family.
Dad shares custody of three wonderful school-aged children: two boys, ages 9 and 7, and a 5-year-old girl. The heart of this position is providing consistent, engaging care for the children and helping their days run smoothly, from morning school preparation to afternoon activities, homework, dinner, and evening routines.
Each child has their own personality and interests, and Dad would love to find someone who genuinely enjoys getting to know children as individuals. Someone who can have fun with them, plan adventures, support their growing independence, and also provide structure and consistency will be a great fit.
This position can be tailored somewhat to the right candidate. It will begin primarily around the family’s morning and after-school needs, but there is a wonderful opportunity to add daytime hours for someone who enjoys Family Assistant and household management responsibilities. For the right person, the role has the potential to grow into a more substantial or even full-time position.
Their Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is warm and engaging with children while also being highly capable, organized, and proactive behind the scenes.
Dad would especially appreciate someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative rather than waiting for direction. This could be a great fit for a candidate who loves the variety of combining childcare with household organization, errands, research, planning, and special projects.
The family is also very comfortable with technology and would love someone who enjoys using modern tools, including AI, to make everyday life more efficient. Whether researching a family trip, creating an organizational system, managing calendars, or finding a better way to tackle a household project, curiosity and resourcefulness are highly valued.
Above all, this person should genuinely enjoy children and want to become a consistent, trusted presence in their lives.
Schedule
Optional Morning Shift
Currently Monday and Tuesday, approximately 6:45 AM–9:00 AM for breakfast, school preparation, and drop-off.
The morning schedule is expected to eventually transition to a week-on/week-off schedule based on Dad’s custody schedule.
Afternoon Shift
Approximately 2:00 PM–7:00 PM for school pick-ups, activities, homework, dinner preparation, and evening routines.
The family is flexible and happy to discuss additional daytime hours for a candidate interested in taking on Family Assistant and household management responsibilities.
The role guarantees 25 hours per week. 2 mornings per week is helpful but not required. If you have the availability to do so, that'd be great.
The hours will not be every other week; they will remain at least 25 hours a week.
Occasional weekend availability and flexibility for schedule adjustments are appreciated but not required.
