About the Family
Warm, thoughtful, and down-to-earth family located in Montclair is seeking a part-time nanny/family assistant for their sweet and curious 2-year-old son. Both parents work in San Francisco, with mom working as a lawyer and dad working in finance. Their longtime part-time nanny is heading off to nursing school, and they are hoping to find another wonderful fit for this next chapter.
Their son is bright, communicative, and incredibly book-loving with what his parents describe as an “insatiable appetite” for reading. He loves playgrounds, riding his balance bike, arts and crafts, stickers, temporary tattoos, basketball, and active outdoor play. The family enjoys a calm, low-pressure parenting style centered around kindness, communication, emotional regulation, and creating a loving environment where he feels secure and engaged.
They describe themselves as homebodies who value quality family time, weekend outings, and a relaxed but thoughtful rhythm at home. The family also has a mellow Australian cattle dog, so comfort around dogs is important.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is warm, engaging, flexible, and genuinely enjoys spending time with toddlers. This family is not looking for someone overly rigid or formal, but rather someone calm, emotionally intelligent, playful, and naturally interactive who can help create a happy and stimulating environment for their son.
They would love someone who:
• Enjoys reading, imaginative play, outdoor activities, and arts/crafts
• Can remain calm and grounded during toddler emotions or transitions
• Encourages communication and independence in age-appropriate ways
• Is proactive, responsive, and dependable
• Is comfortable helping with light household support related to the child
• Has some flexibility in their schedule for occasional evening coverage
The family deeply values a nanny who genuinely enjoys being around children and approaches the role with warmth, steadiness, and common sense.
Responsibilities
• Engaging, developmentally appropriate care for a toddler
• Reading, play, outings, and creative activities
• Park visits, outdoor play, and neighborhood adventures
• Assisting with meals and snack prep for the child
• Child laundry and tidying child-related spaces
• Supporting bedtime/evening wind-down routine
• Occasional errands related to the child or household
• Maintaining a safe, calm, and nurturing environment
Additional Notes
• Child attends daycare during weekdays from approximately 8 am–5 pm
• Family keeps a gluten-free household due to celiac disease and will provide clear protocols around kitchen safety and cross-contamination
• Family has a friendly, low-energy dog in the home
• Ideal candidate is comfortable working collaboratively with busy professional parents while maintaining autonomy and initiative
To ensure the success of our nanny position, we have established the following requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of recent, professional experience in childcare.
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Impressive references from past employers, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and exceptional childcare skills.
Willingness to undergo two background checks, namely Trustline and Nanny Verify, ensuring the safety and security of our children.
Valid U.S. citizenship or work authorization.
Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CPR certification (if applicable).
Current vaccinations, including flu, Tdap, and proof of Covid-19 vaccination and boosters.
