GENUINE NANNY: TAYLOR C.

Full-time - San Francisco

MEET OUR TRUSTWORTHY, CARING, AND UNDERSTANDING
GENUINE NANNY TAYLOR!

I am a 26 year old fun, hardworking and caring individual who was born and raised here in Marin County. I went to College of Marin and obtained my Associates degree in Behavioral science and after decided to go and travel Australia for a year and a half by myself to experience a different part of the world outside of Marin. Growing up a twin, this experience not only taught me the value of travel but it also helped build me into the person I am today. It helped build my confidence in any situation being that I was as far away from home as I could be, on my own without my other half for the first time in my life. Throughout college, I was working full time as a nanny as well as well as attending full time schooling, teaching me the value of being able to multitask and take on any challenge that came my way. I had the opportunity of being an au pair while I was in Australia as well. I came back and continued with the childcare route I had begun when I was 12 years old. Not only did I nanny, but I became a waitress on top of that. After a few years of doing both, I decided that I wanted to completely immerse myself into working in private households. I want to continue to grow in this career, not only as a nanny but as a family assistant. The more opportunities to learn and grow in this type of career is what I find to be a dream come true.

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... Empathy and patience are two of the most important virtues.

I believe... That kids can teach adults just as much as we teach them.

I believe... Communication with families is key.

PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:

I have been described by previous employers and coworkers as a ray of sunshine. I love to make people smile and laugh and see that most problems are easily solvable and if not, there's a solution that can at least make it better. I like to find the positivity in things especially after working with kids for so long because they have taught me that adults tend to take life too seriously. Some of my strengths when it comes to working with private families is my flexibility, willingness to go above and beyond and the ability to be patient in all situations. Life happens and I want to be the person to help take some of the stress that comes with all that it is being an adult.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?

I have loved being a nanny and continued in this career because each and everyday I learn something new. Whether it's a new way to approach a problem or learning the way each kid works, there's always something new and exciting. Growing up with a single mom, I was also taught the importance of having a trustworthy support system and I love being able to provide that for those that I work for. I want to be able to be a reliable source to help out in anyway needed to make life easier. Parenting and working can be overwhelming and I want to take some of that weight off and allow for the parents to feel at ease knowing they have someone else to count on.

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EMPLOYERS? ANY EXAMPLES TO SHARE?

I am completely open and understanding when it comes to communication. I believe honesty and being straight forward while being respectful towards one another is the key. I am going to be their other hand so I want to be able to have us all be on the same page and feel comfortable with each other and not like anyone has to walk on eggshells. I can take criticism and I enjoy any suggestions for improvement.

WHAT TYPE OF NANNY ROLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AND WHAT ENVIRONMENT YOU WOULD BE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN

I am looking for a nanny/family assistant role. I am comfortable working with 3 or less kids with playdates and such I can handle more as well. I am looking for an environment that doesn't just see me as a person working for them but someone that they can trust and welcome into their family. Being that I will be taking care of their kids I want us all to be on the same page and have open communication about expectations and anything that needs to be addressed. I was a lifeguard for years as well, so I would love the ability to have an outdoorsy, active family.

PLEASE DESCRIBE HOW YOU HAVE TAKEN INITIATIVE IN YOUR PAST NANNY POSITIONS.

I am a go getter, a leader and a positive happy individual who takes on any task that is thrown my way. I will go above and beyond if it means taking a few more minutes after I am released or if it means prioritizing other things. An example of initiatives I have taken have been helping the grandparents with the kids when the parents are out of town knowing that the kids can be exhausting at times. I have helped go to families houses and help with other aspects of the house if they are out of town, I will bake breakfast muffins just to make it so breakfast can be easy for the entire family. I have helped volunteer at the school if the parents weren't able to.

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

I believe in a positive yet semi-firm and gentle approach when working with kids. I am extremely patient and want the kids to have basic respect for me. I will always communicate and explain in order to make sure kids understand truly why they are being disciplined or not. Along with that, I just want to approach the kids with whatever the philosophy on raising their kids the parents have because I just want us all to be working together so that the kids have stability when it comes to discipline and values. So as long as I am told how the family wants to approach all of the tougher things, I am on board to support and respect their wishes.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

The biggest challenge I have faced while working for a family was lack of communication. It seems that as soon as we all communicate, everything runs smoothly.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

I absolutely love the outdoors. On my days off and even after work I tend to be either on a hike, at the gym or on my mountain bike. I love to camp, ride dirt bikes, swim, go to concerts, travel and spend time with my family.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPARKLE?

My positive and uplifting spirit allows me to shine in this field. No matter how hard a day may be, I will always find a way to make it so that all around me are happy and feeling good about the day. I will never let a moment ruin a day. I love to be goofy and see life as a kid would see it and see that there are so many exciting and fun things that should be appreciated!
