GENUINE NANNY: GLORIA R.

Full-time - San Francisco, Excelsior

MEET OUR RESPONSIBLE, RELIABLE, AND ENERGETIC
GENUINE NANNY GLORIA R!

Being a career nanny has been one of the most rewarding experiences. I have raised many San Francisco babies and have seen them off to college. My gift is observing children and knowing best how to provide them with an environment that challenges them in a nurturing and loving manner. I offer a strong emphasis on helping the child develop strong motor and developmental skills, and enjoy getting creative to do so. If it means setting up an obstacle course to motivate them to crawl, or showing them high contrast images when they are younger to build strong tracking skills, I make it happen and allow it to evolve to further challenge them. What I have read and learned about about through my experience with children, I realize is intuitive to me being that I come from a culture where children are highly celebrated. When I am not working, you can find me at home tending to my garden while drinking a freshly squeezed juice from my juicer, or spending time making memories with my grandchildren.

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... It takes a village to raise a child

I believe... No one can ever replace a mother

I believe... In the importance of investing in long term relationships for long term memories

PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to me so that I can have the energy to live life to the fullest. A fun time for me includes spending quality time with my daughters and sharing family recipes with them. I have had to be very resilient in life so I have a big heart and remind my daughters to stay generous and grateful for all that they have and all they are doing. I like to laugh and go out in nature, and enjoy long walks and the farmers market. I am very transparent and always seek a positive outcome in all situations. I value my time and the time of others, so being reliable and trustworthy is something I build daily and maintain professionalism.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?

This is my calling and purpose. As a mother of four, I understand the need to have the support of people you can trust to bring into your family circle. I would be doing a disservice to families in need if I didn't share all of my knowledge and expertise. My goal is always to equip and empower families and leave them to decide what they want to apply to their home. It is so rewarding to invest in a child's development and see it come to fruition with each milestone.

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EMPLOYERS? ANY EXAMPLES TO SHARE?

Direct: I like to give daily updates, and communicate anything I notice the child may need. In the past, it has worked out really great for me to have quarterly meetings to check in. Communication with parents while they are working includes pictures (when possible) to keep them in the loop, or anything urgent as I prefer to give the child my full and undivided attention.

WHAT TYPE OF NANNY ROLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AND WHAT ENVIRONMENT YOU WOULD BE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN

The ideal nanny role is a full charge position with working parents, who trust my experience and have strong communication. If I know what the parents want and need from me, all I need is the space to execute. I treat my work environment like an extension of my home, therefore, having the space to keep tidy and organized allows me to provide my best work. I believe that staying organized leaves room for spontaneity such as being able to pickup and go on an adventure if there is a weather change, and also enabling immediate action when needed such as always knowing where the thermometer is.

PLEASE DESCRIBE HOW YOU HAVE TAKEN INITIATIVE IN YOUR PAST NANNY POSITIONS.

I pride myself in being keen to detail. This has helped me to stay ten steps ahead of what is expected of me, but also allows me to go above and beyond. Examples of that include noticing when the child is growing out of their clothes and communicating to the parents, to more personal details such as my employer preferring a specific milk for their coffee so picking some up when they are low. Travel examples include me pulling out items to pack that are needed, to preparing car or airplane snacks. If the child has expressed interest in an activity, I have presented families via email with options for classes. Keeping the house tidy and presentable, watering the plants, ensuring household supplies are stocked

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

Communication: Getting to the Child's level and explaining clearly the why behind the what, as well as the outcome of their decision (positive or negative). Leading by example is key and modeling respectful behavior, children are always watching and observing their adults. This is where communication with the parents is vital because I believe it is important to all be on the same page so we can use the same language and provide equal support to one another.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

Regarding a challenge that may present itself, I believe there is a solution for everything and anything when all parties involved have a willingness to make something work. I find that with my experience and love for what I do, I have been able to adapt and work with many different personalities. Initially, like in any relationship, it may take time to get to know each others communication style, personality, and culture. I mean well, and always greatly appreciate feedback. English is not my first language, so at times things may translate with a different tone. Again, I always welcome the openness to hear if there is an alternate way to say something, I love to improve my English any opportunity I have.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

Gym time, dancing, visiting my home country, gardening, quality time with family, self care.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPARKLE?

My passion and energy to stay healthy with a homeopathic approach. Being resourceful and a self starter. Doing everything in my power to end my day proud of my work and full of integrity.
