GENUINE NANNY: LANA S.

Full-time - East Bay

MEET OUR PATIENT, LOVING, AND FUN GENUINE NANNY LANA S.!

Hi, I’m Lana! I graduated nursing school in 1999, while in school I was nannying. After graduation I found myself pregnant and decided that I was enjoying nannying and this gave me more time to also spend with my own child. I have over 25 years of nannying experience. Most of my experience is as a share care with 2 children similar age or siblings. I find that having two children at a time is both rewarding and challenging. I’m always up for a challenge. I have premature baby experience as well. I am English and Spanish fluent and I an also okay in Russian. I have cpr training, I’m Covid vaccinated and boosted as well as all the other required vaccines.

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... In always having an open communication policy. I would not get upset with constructive criticism/feedback and hope that goes both ways.

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EMPLOYERS? ANY EXAMPLES TO SHARE?

I always ask for full transparency and honesty. I know parents what this from us and I believe we should have it from them as well. We need to be able to communicate freely about what is happening at work and with their child.

WHAT TYPE OF NANNY ROLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AND WHAT ENVIRONMENT YOU WOULD BE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN

I am looking to be a take charge nanny. I know I will always have the parents to ask or tell me their likes or dislikes but I am very self sufficient and reliable. I want the parents to be able to communicate with me and to me. I will do the same!

PLEASE DESCRIBE HOW YOU HAVE TAKEN INITIATIVE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

After work for a while and building a good relationship with the family they have always trusted me in making decisions in their kids eating habits and classes that they take. I try to make meal plans , play dates, decisions on which classes would be good for that particular child and at what age.

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

I believe that all children go through bad days , challenging day, and of course mood swings. It is important to communicate on their level to get down to their eye level and try to resolve it through talking it out first. Most children will be receptive to this . It just takes patience. Although also, sometimes time out is also necessary and quiet moments where they can think about their consequences

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

Sometimes families can be very challenging especially if they do not always reveal the complete truth about their child’s health or the way the birth went. There were two families that I can remember specifically that didn’t let me know that their child was born prematurely. The other one had a very large stork bite in the back of his head which is a hematoma that is very painful. Well after I discovered these facts I understood why I was hired , most likely due to having medical experience and that I would be patient in helping both them and their child with the trial and tribulations in the early months. Well this just teaches me that honesty is so important as well as transparency.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

Well I’m a soccer mom. So I’m supposed to love soccer or at least I’m very supportive. I enjoy cooking it relaxes me. Although I’m not a great baker at all. I’ve helped out on many school projects when my nanny kids grew up and started school. I love spending time outdoors and and that is always incorporated into my nannying days as well as music.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPARKLE?

Well I honestly don’t know exactly what it is but, when I start working with any child we build an incredible bond that last through years.
