GENUINE NANNY: KENDRA K.

Full-time - San Francisco

MEET OUR EMPATHETIC, RELIABLE & LOYAL GENUINE NANNY KENDRA K.!

My name is Kendra Kaplan. I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I have been a career nanny for 10 plus years. I have worked with infants all the way through high schoolers. I am also certified as a postpartum doula. I studied early childhood education at The Ohio State University.

I have loved the connections i have made with all of my families through the years. I truly love my job and i love enriching the lives of the children I'm working with. I always like to keep their brains and bodies active. I also love to bake (I have a little side baking business) so all of the kids i nanny for always love sampling my treats. I also have an open line of communication with parents and I feel like that component always builds trust for both parties involved. I am also planning on getting certified as a sleep consultant as well as a lactation consultant. There's so much to learn about babies/children and their development, I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface yet!

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... In communicating effectively

I believe... In kids thrive off of some sort of boundaries/structure

I believe... I can speak my mind in a mature and effective manner

PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:

I like to think I'm laid back when I can be but when things need to get done, I know how to get everything done in a quick and effective manner. Im good with delegating but can also just follow along as well. I like to think that my strengths are being transparent. I'm punctual and reliable. When it comes to work ethic, I always try to give 110% every single day. I show up, make sure the kids have a wonderful day and help the family in whatever comes up for the day as long as my normal household duties. My biggest value is respect. Respect on my end and on the families end is a non negotiable. I respect myself so i expect my nanny families to respect me too. That includes my boundaries as well as my time

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EMPLOYERS? ANY EXAMPLES TO SHARE?

I always like to be upfront. If there’s an issue, I like to confront the parents right away and resolve the issue quickly. One example I can think of is with the currently family I nanny for. I was having a hard time with the older girls. They were leaving their shared bedroom a mess. The girls wouldn’t put their dirty clothes in the hamper and just leave them in their closet or on the floor. It just took an open conversation with their parents and we came to a solution that worked for all of us.

WHAT TYPE OF NANNY ROLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AND WHAT ENVIRONMENT YOU WOULD BE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN

I’m looking for a nanny/house management position. I am very good at multitasking so I can accomplish multiple tasks while also taking care of children.

PLEASE DESCRIBE HOW YOU HAVE TAKEN INITIATIVE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

I always do research for local activities that are going on in our city. I love the kids to explore a variety of activities. Whether it’s the science center, children’s museum, inclusive indoor playground (we rock the spectrum is awesome) or just taking a hike in our local metropark system. We are always on the go!

I also am a big advocate for children trying new food. I like to come up with dinner ideas for the week. I sit down with the kids and get suggestions from them and we come up with a menu together

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

I believe kids thrive off of boundaries. I also think that there needs to be a mutual respect between nanny and parents and children and nanny. Parents and myself always try to work together to come to a conclusion for discipline.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

I have a hard time setting boundaries. I always go above and beyond for my families when I can. The one thing that really bothers me is when I come in on Monday to a sink full of dirty dishes and the house is a mess. I have a hard time communicating that I shouldn’t clean up the weekend mess! I’m working on it.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

I love to bake! I also enjoy photography and taking hikes. I’m excited to explore all of the trails in California.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPARKLE?

I truly do love working with kids! I want to become a part of your family and grow with your family! I have a lot of experience so let’s work together so I can make your lives a little easier!
