MEET NANNY: EMI
Full-Time - San Francisco
Joy is at the center of who I am and how I move through life. I’ve always been someone who naturally gravitates toward people, connection, and care—especially babies. Every childhood photo of me includes a baby doll in my arms, and even now, if there’s a baby nearby, I’m usually the one happily holding them. Caring for others feels instinctive to me, and I bring that same warmth, presence, and attentiveness into everything I do.
I’ve been a competitive violinist since the age of six, and music continues to shape who I am. It has taught me discipline, creativity, patience, and emotional expression—qualities that carry into my daily life. I’m also half Japanese and bilingual, and I deeply value cultural awareness, curiosity, and learning from people of all backgrounds. I love connecting with others, sharing stories, and I truly love to laugh.
I’m a very positive and optimistic person—life, to me, is about joy. I bring a calm, happy energy into the spaces I’m in and enjoy creating environments where people feel supported and at ease. I genuinely enjoy learning new things, growing, and receiving feedback.
I love to travel and explore new countries and cultures, and I also have an interest in property investing. I’ve worked closely with rental property owners, which strengthened my organization, responsibility, and long-term thinking. I enjoy setting goals and building a future with intention.
What I am most proud of and means the most to me are the relationships I build. I’m still in close contact with every family I’ve worked with, and parents often reach out to share joyful memories their children still talk about, how much they miss me, or how they wish I could still be part of their everyday lives. Those messages remind me that joy, consistency, and genuine care leave a lasting impact. They reflect the trust, connection, and care I bring into each relationship.
At my core, I lead with love, joy, and intention. I take pride in trusting relationships, bringing laughter, light, and consistency into every day, and supporting each child’s growth with genuine love. A fun thing about me is that I love fashion and naturally pay attention to the little details—I’ll happily dig for the bows, plan outfits in my head, and make sure babies are well-groomed, from moisturized skin and trimmed nails to combed hair, caring for them with the same thoughtfulness and pride a parent would. I love the children I work with and truly enjoy making every day joyful, playful, and full of love.

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY
I believe... I believe that childcare is joy. Ever since I was a child, all I wanted for Christmas was a baby doll. By the time I started middle school, I had a collection of about 20, and I spent every day after school playing “mom.” Why? Because I felt pure joy. I loved caring for my babies—picking out outfits, making meals, putting them to sleep, taking them on imaginary family trips—and it brought me immense happiness.
I feel grateful for so much in life: family, friends, the ability to learn and grow, the freedom to pursue my passions, and especially my passion for childcare. These experiences and the people in my life have led me to guide the children I care for with intention and love. I understand that these early years are the most important in a child’s development, and it is both an honor and a joy to be part of that journey. I believe in high love, high expectations: nurturing with care while encouraging growth.
I believe... I believe in being constantly alert and aware of my surroundings to ensure that children are safe—not just physically, but emotionally as well. I prioritize creating an environment where children feel nurtured, loved, and secure, because emotional regulation and a sense of safety are essential for them to thrive, build confidence, and explore the world with curiosity. For me, proactive care means anticipating needs and potential challenges so that children can grow in a supportive, joyful, and secure environment.
I believe... I believe that life should be lived to be enjoyed, not just endured. Taking care of yourself—both physically and emotionally—is essential, and making a conscious effort each day to find joy, stay positive, and embrace the little moments creates a ripple effect for everyone around you. I believe in celebrating life’s simple pleasures, approaching challenges with optimism, and modeling gratitude and happiness, especially for children. When we live with intention and positivity, we teach the next generation to do the same.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?
I have always found immense joy in nannying. Being around babies and nurturing children is something I’ve been drawn to for as long as I can remember—I truly don’t know a life without the joy of being around children.
To me, this work is less of an “industry” and more of an essential role that has always existed. Caring for children is foundational—much like the role of a parent—and it deserves intention, respect, and heart. While the children I care for are not biologically mine, when they are in my care, they are mine in my heart. I remember every child’s name, their favorite things, our shared laughter, and the memories we create together. I take my role in each child’s life seriously and feel honored to be a meaningful, positive presence during such important early years.
PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:
I am positive, joyful, and big-hearted—I love to laugh and bring energy and warmth into every space I’m in. While many people see my fun and loving side, I am also serious and focused when it comes to responsibilities. I am calm, patient, and adaptable, which allows me to meet children’s needs and handle challenging moments with ease.
I am organized, detail-oriented, emotionally intelligent, analytical, and proactive. I notice the little things, anticipate needs, and solve problems efficiently, whether it’s planning developmentally appropriate activities, supporting routines, or managing household tasks. I have held leadership roles in fast-paced environments, which strengthened my skills in planning, scheduling, and execution. I am committed, loyal, and reliable, and I communicate clearly while approaching challenges with a positive, solution-oriented mindset. I value loyalty, trust, integrity, and respect, and I strive to create a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment that encourages learning, independence, and growth.
