About the Family
A warm and collaborative family in the Oakland Hills near Montclair is looking for a wonderful Part-Time Nanny / Mother’s Helper to join their family and help care for their sweet and energetic 11-month-old son.
Both parents are currently in a graduate program, and Grandma is also an active and loving part of their son’s life. Rather than looking for someone who needs to work completely independently, this family would love to find a caregiver who enjoys being part of a team. Some days may involve independent care, while others may include working alongside Mom or helping Grandma with an outing to the zoo, museum, or another activity.
Grandma is warm, lovely, and easy to be around, and the family hopes to find someone who can complement the dynamic already in place. They want their nanny to feel like an extension of their family and a true partner in their home.
Their son currently wears a brace on his arm, so they are looking for someone attentive and gentle who can be mindful of his right arm during care and play.
Because the family’s childcare needs can vary from week to week, this is a particularly great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hybrid Nanny / Mother’s Helper role. On lighter childcare days, they would love someone who is happy to jump in with bottles, meal preparation, tidying, organization, and other helpful tasks around the home.
Their Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is warm, energetic, flexible, and naturally proactive. They genuinely enjoy caring for toddlers but are equally happy working as part of a collaborative household.
The right person will be comfortable having Mom or Grandma around during portions of the day and understand how to work alongside them seamlessly. They know when to take the lead, when to assist, and how to complement another caregiver without making the dynamic feel complicated.
Initiative will be especially important. During naps or times when their son is at an appointment, they would love someone who naturally finds ways to be helpful—washing bottles, prepping food, tidying, organizing, or tackling another task that makes the family’s day easier.
Someone who enjoys cooking and family meal preparation would be an especially exciting fit. With two very busy parents, having a nanny who can help prepare healthy family meals would be incredibly valuable, and the family is open to offering higher compensation for a candidate who brings this skill.
Most importantly, they are hoping to find someone kind and dependable who approaches the position with a genuine partnership mentality.
Responsibilities
Provide warm, attentive, and engaging care for an 11-month-old
Support age-appropriate play, development, feeding, naps, and daily routines
Be attentive and gentle with his right arm and brace
Take walks and enjoy the nearby park
Occasionally accompany and assist Grandma with outings such as the zoo or museums
Collaborate comfortably with Mom when she is home
Wash and prepare bottles
Prepare meals and snacks
Clean up after meals, play, and daily activities
Keep children’s spaces and belongings tidy and organized
Take initiative with helpful household tasks during naps and downtime
Assist with family meal preparation, if comfortable
Provide Mother’s Helper support during lighter childcare periods
To ensure the success of our nanny position, we have established the following requirements
A minimum of 5 years of recent, professional experience in childcare.
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Impressive references from past employers, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and exceptional childcare skills.
Willingness to undergo two background checks, namely Trustline and Nanny Verify, ensuring the safety and security of our children.
Valid U.S. citizenship or work authorization.
Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CPR certification (if applicable).
Current vaccinations, including flu, Tdap, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination and boosters.
