ABOUT THE FAMILY
A warm, active family in Los Gatos is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly proactive Full-Time Nanny to become a trusted part of their children’s daily lives. The family has two young children—a toddler turning three and an infant turning one in January—and is looking for someone who genuinely loves engaging with children and brings enthusiasm, creativity, and initiative to each day.
This is an active, athletic household where the children enjoy getting outside, exploring, playing sports, riding scooters, visiting playgrounds, reading, painting, attending music and library classes, and trying new activities.
Both parents have demanding and somewhat variable professional schedules, so they greatly value a nanny who is flexible and comfortable adapting when needed. The family is respectful of their nanny’s personal time and provides as much advance notice as possible when schedule changes arise.
The household also includes a Household Manager and a friendly older dog. The nanny should enjoy being part of a collaborative household and be comfortable working alongside other household staff.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal nanny is warm, playful, energetic, and genuinely excited to spend their days with young children. The family is looking for someone who is extremely proactive—a childcare professional who anticipates what needs to happen next rather than waiting for direction.
This person should understand early childhood development and enjoy creating engaging, age-appropriate experiences that support the children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
The family values a warm and understanding approach to caregiving. They are looking for someone who can set appropriate boundaries while remaining playful, patient, and emotionally attuned, without yelling or harsh discipline.
A great fit will also have a personable and relatable presence, a good sense of humor, and the ability to comfortably partner with the parents around their parenting philosophy and educational goals.
CHILD-RELATED DUTIES
Provide attentive, hands-on care for both children
Create active, age-appropriate play and enrichment rather than simply supervising
Encourage outdoor time, movement, sports, and exploration
Plan creative activities, arts and crafts, reading, music, and outings
Support developmental milestones and the children’s evolving interests
Assist with preschool drop-offs, pickups, and transitions when the older child begins preschool three days per week
Prepare children’s meals, snacks, and bottles
Support consistent feeding, nap, and daily routines
Keep children’s play areas organized and tidy
Clean children’s food preparation and eating areas, including high chairs, bibs, and tables
Prepare bottles and load used bottles into the dishwasher
Keep the changing area organized and stocked with diapers and supplies
Empty the diaper pail as needed
Keep the diaper bag stocked and ready for outings
Maintain children’s bedrooms, clothing drawers, and belongings
Occasionally let the family dog outside or assist with feeding
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional in-home nanny experience or a background in early childhood education required
Strong infant and toddler experience
Knowledge of early childhood development and children’s emotional needs
Experience partnering with parents around developmental and educational goals preferred
Highly proactive, organized, and self-directed
Energetic and enthusiastic about active, hands-on childcare
Warm, playful, patient, and emotionally attuned
Excellent communication skills
Fluent English required; additional languages are a plus
Excellent professional references
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Reliable personal vehicle and comfortable transporting children
Comfortable working alongside a Household Manager
Comfortable with dogs
Flexible with occasional schedule changes
To ensure the success of our nanny position, we have established the following requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of recent, professional experience in childcare.
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Impressive references from past employers, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and exceptional childcare skills.
Willingness to undergo two background checks, namely Trustline and Nanny Verify, ensuring the safety and security of our children.
Valid U.S. citizenship or work authorization.
Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CPR certification (if applicable).
Current vaccinations, including flu, Tdap, and proof of Covid-19 vaccination and boosters.
