MEET OUR NURTURING, INTELLIGENT AND RELIABLE
GENUINE NANNY TRACI T.!

I was born and raised in CA and recently returned to the Bay Area after having moved out of state for 5 years. I am very adventurous and adaptable after living in different states, a foreign country and solo traveling around the world for nine months when I was younger. My private service career started over 25 years ago and I love being of service for families as a nanny, family assistant, household assistant, cook, and pet caretaker. I thrive in a position that keeps me busy and active throughout the day.

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... Safety is the number one job in caring for children

I believe... Being in alignment, consistent with care, and working as a team with the parents is paramount to a successful fit with a family and as a nanny

I believe... Living a life of integrity both in professional and personal relationships is a priority to always uphold and strive for.

PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:

I value honesty, real/open communication, integrity, mutual respect, approachability, and honoring one’s word.

I am a dedicated, hard working, reliable, punctual, approachable, trustworthy, and compassionate/caring nanny.

I believe I am down to earth, open minded, forward thinking, intelligent with loads of patience for young ones. I am a big believer in having a routine and schedule with children and helping to implement a routine if one is needed or if a routine is already in place adhering to it for the well being of the children and family.

It is always my goal to work as a team with parents, be consistent with the parents in helping to raise happy, healthy, well adjusted children so that they can thrive mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?

I realize that I am a “baby whisperer.”

I am a natural with children and I love being with the young ones. Children are drawn to me and I to them. Nannying is my true calling. I cherish the bond and love that develops between myself and the children I care for. I also enjoy working with and helping first time parents adjust to the changes that a baby brings to their life and home.

Teaching children about the world around them and teaching them about nature and the natural world is such a wonderful experience. Their curiosity and eagerness to learn and my guiding/teaching them is one of my favorite aspects of being a nanny.

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EMPLOYERS? ANY EXAMPLES TO SHARE?

My communication style is clear, open, engaging and concise so their is no confusion. And I appreciate the same style of communication in return. I want the parents to know that they can approach me with any input, suggestions, concerns, or any changes that are needed and that I can do the same.

My one example is when a family started scheduling me for 12 1/2 hour days so that the parents could spend the day together and never asked me if these hours were ok for me. I knew I had to work 12 1/2 hour days on their scheduled work days which could be two 12 1/2 hour days (with no overtime pay) and then another 3 days of work that week. Working five days a week with 2 of those days being 12 1/2 hour days and only having 2 days off a week became a lot for me. When I realized they were scheduling me for 12 1/2 hour days on their days off I approached them very diplomatically so that they could hear me and understand where my concern was. I said that I understood that I had to work 12 1/2 hour days when they were both scheduled to work for those days, but that I was not comfortable working 12 1/2 hour days when they both had the day off. I told them that the 12 1/2 hour days were very tiring for me and that a 10 hour day to go spend the day together seemed long enough and I was ok to work a 10 hour day on those days if they needed me to. They understood and adjusted accordingly.

WHAT TYPE OF NANNY ROLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AND WHAT ENVIRONMENT YOU WOULD BE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN

My ideal role is to be working as a full charge nanny or nanny and family assistant. I thrive in a roll where I am helping out with various tasks and duties throughout the day. A mix of nannying and family assisting is perfect for me. Any cooking for the family would be a plus for me.

I like knowing what is expected of me in a position so that I am aware and I can do my job to my highest abilities.

I work best in an environment that is organized (which I can help maintain), has structure and routine with some adaptability on occasion/as needed, where I have full charge care of the children while working as a consistent team with the parents, reciprocal approachability to openly and honestly discuss any concerns or ways of working with the children for their best interests, feeling safe to address any concerns from either the parents to myself and vice versa, working in an environment of high emotional intelligence, having mutual respect for one another, and being valued for all that I bring to the table and for my vast experience with working with families and children are all qualities that I have learned are ideal in a working relationship with a family.

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

I believe that every child should be valued and respected for their own individuality and uniqueness while supporting and encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves through love, nurturing, understanding, and guidance.

I believe that every child should be allowed their full expression of emotions and be acknowledged for what they are feeling. I create a feeling of safety for them to express their feelings and get them out and afterwards I talk with them to help them to understand their emotions and teach them healthy ways to feel/express their emotions. I do a lot of talking and explaining with children about their feelings, emotions, and behavior. I always work on telling them what to do rather than what not to do. For example rather than saying, “No, don’t climb on the coffee table”, I will say “keep your feet on the floor. You need to keep your feet on the floor.” From my years of experience children want to know what is ok and what is not. They thrive on boundaries and knowing what to expect. I know how to honor and allow a child their uniqueness and their full range of emotions within a healthy set of boundaries.

I have a mixture of different parenting styles that have morphed together over the years. :)

I do believe that a family can have a parent run home while allowing their children to be their genuine selves, having their choices, decisions of their own, and their own creativity while respecting their parents and caregivers. They learn to know and appreciate what is ok and what isn’t and they feel safer knowing there are boundaries. It is all about creating those healthy boundaries with them.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

Feeling taken advantage of, being underpaid and undervalued, lack of clear communication, and being spoken down to in a demeaning manner. These have been my biggest challenges with working in private homes.

I am excellent at my job and I have the highest respect for my employers. I wish for the same in return.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

I love being outside in nature, the outdoors, respecting and caring for the environment, being in the mountains, being at the ocean, hiking, biking, world travel, photography, learning about other cultures, cooking healthy/organic meals for myself and others, reading, self growth/bettering myself, being with my friends, and riding my Triumph motorcycle.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPARKLE?

I sparkle when I am trusted to do my job at my highest standards of care and I am given the autonomy to achieve the best care for the children and family.

I also sparkle when I am valued for my experience, knowledge, and expertise.
