GENUINE NANNY: DEBBIE V.

Full-time - Marin

MEET OUR KIND, AUTHENTIC, AND INTUITIVE
GENUINE NANNY DEBBIE!

I am a mother to a 20-year-old. I am a good friend to people and an extremely hard worker. I am passionate about many things including: hiking, nature, kids and all their wonderfulness and personalities, photography, and cooking. I love meeting new people and being social.

I am originally from England and consider myself the Jill of all trades. I am very easy to get along with and a pretty calm and patient woman with a funny sense of humor:)

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... You only live once, so live it! Happiness is in us all we just have to find what makes us happy.

I believe... Kids are the funniest characters around cause they are unfiltered and honest. I believe adapting to kids and who they are is incredibly important.

I believe... We are all meant for something, and when we find it, we know.

PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:

I have a very sincere and kind personality with a kick of humor. I am considerate, honest, and thoughtful.

I have many skillsets to offer to my employees, some basics include: cooking, playing (for the kids/master fort builder), organizing, photography, planning trips/dates for the children, many more....

I value a good working relationship with open and honest communication, kindness, and love.... kids need all the love!)

I have high emotional intelligence, which comes with it strong intuition and foresight to plan or think ahead to meet people’s needs.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?

I have spent almost half my life working with children in one capacity or another. Being a nanny is not just a job, it's a commitment to know you are going to make a difference in the life of a child and the families’ lives. Kids are just kids and they need people to be on their level so they can feel understood and heard. I love being with babies and children, nothing better than the snuggles you get and the fun times they bring.

WHAT IS YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EMPLOYERS? ANY EXAMPLES TO SHARE?

My communication style is open and honest. I communicate regularly with parents via text/photos of kids during the day so they can be part of and see what we are doing (of course some parents may be busier and not want this. I will respect their time if needed and send pics/videos later). All families I have worked for have valued this as they have been given a look into their children's lives when they are cared for by someone else. I have made suggestions to parents about sleep training, what has worked for me and what hasn't during the day. I have also shared issues that may have come up during the day with their children, behavioral or emotional so everyone is on the same page and is in the loop.

WHAT TYPE OF NANNY ROLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AND WHAT ENVIRONMENT YOU WOULD BE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN

I would love to work in a family environment that is relaxed and go-with-the-flow, as children often need this too. I love to take initiative on activities for the children and run any ideas by the parents. I am very comfortable with all ages of children from birth upward. I love families that have a sense of humor and are easy going.

PLEASE DESCRIBE HOW YOU HAVE TAKEN INITIATIVE IN YOUR PAST NANNY POSITIONS.

I have taken so much initiative in past positions to planning and executing activities/classes/playdates etc. I have been aware of things needed for the home and shopped for it when possible, whether household items or food etc. I have cooked many many meals without being asked for the families, of course for children during the day but even to ease the dinnertime burden of parents by prepping or cooking when doable.

I have sourced vendors for families because they needed help with things, repairs, remodels, etc.

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

Discipline is all age dependent but I have always geared toward re direction when age appropriate. Some families have their own wishes such as small time outs etc and I have mirrored the families for continuity for the children. I believe in calm to child level communication that is age appropriate.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AS A NANNY OR WHILE WORKING WITH A FAMILY?

Challenges have been quite few for me, but I could say maybe sometimes boundaries. I want to always be the one they turn to for support/needing date nights etc and sometimes I am not able to accommodate. Many times I have, but sometimes it's hard.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

I love photography, cooking, hiking solo or with friends, spending time with my daughter, cooking/shopping/taking walks (she loves to look for bugs and critters out in nature). I ride my Peloton bike often and value having a fit and healthy balanced lifestyle. I love to learn new hobbies if I have time. During the pandemic, I took up Punch-Needling (kind of like Embroidery).

WHAT MAKES YOU SPARKLE?

Being the reason someone smiles. Being the reason you made someone happy. Completing things. Photography. The way a child can look at you and just know they are loved. No better feeling. Tiny babies will always give a spark:)
