MEET NANNY: ASHLEE
Full-Time - San Francisco
With over 8 years of experience as a RIE Nanny, and a total of 10 years as a professional nanny, I have extensively developed my skills in communication, collaboration, and proactivity. I believe my inquisitive nature and dedication to creating a nurturing, safe, and respectful environment for children and parents alike make me a strong candidate for the right family.
Throughout my career and formal education, I have developed a deep understanding of child development and the importance of following each child's developmental pace in order to allow them to guide me toward the most affirming path of care. I will also collaborate with parents, educators, and child development resources to create individualized care plans.
My proactive nature drives me to continually seek out new ways to improve and enhance the care I provide. I am committed to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest research and practices in early childhood education. It is important to me to implement an open, communicative environment that can lead to a space where I, as the caregiver, or the parents, can voice any concerns or enlightenments that they deem important.

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY
I believe... Every child deserves respect. They may not be adults, but they are still little humans. They should be talked to respectfully and told what is happening in their everyday routine, especially during caregiving acts like changes, feedings. etc. If we allow children to participate in their care, they feel safer with us!
I believe... Allowing a child to learn in their own way and at their own pace is immensely more valuable than pushing them in a direction that we want them to go. It is difficult to watch a child use a toy, for example, in a way that seems "wrong" to us. But if we allow ourselves to observe instead of intervening, that's where the magic happens! Play is an innate behavior in every child, and allowing that to blossom with little interference from us allows for endless opportunity for them to create, discover, and realize what sparks genuine interest for them.
I believe... Open communication is the best way for families and nannies to find harmony within a home together. Check-ins between the nanny and parents are so important to keep things running smoothly. When everyone feels safe to openly discuss concerns, or what they feel has been working within the dynamic of the home, especially in regard to the child(ren)'s developmental needs, everyone is so much happier.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?
Being a nanny is one of the most unique careers in the world. You are given the rare opportunity and privilege to be allowed inside a family's home and to become a vital part of their dynamic, and to help that dynamic run more smoothly. I love the feeling of being a part of a team, a small community. And I absolutely love and adore children. The feeling of being influential in the growth and development of a little human never gets old. I get to see the world through their eyes, and there's nothing better.
