ABOUT ME

Neighborhood/Area: Marina, SF

Experience: 3-4 years private nanny experience, ABA and Autism Therapy trained

Compensation: $50 / hr + Benefits

Preferred Schedule: Full time

I am an experienced childcare professional specializing in catering to the unique needs of high-net-worth families. My expertise lies in providing dedicated care for neurodivergent children, and I also have extensive experience in child development for neurotypical children. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from Cal Poly SLO, which has allowed me to refine my skills and knowledge, enabling me to offer comprehensive care and support.

Throughout my professional journey, I have made valuable contributions as a research coordinator, clinical care coordinator, and behavioral therapist (ABA) at the Stanford Autism Center. My expertise extends to Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), a naturalistic and best-practice behavioral approach to working with children. Additionally, I have experience coordinating large-scale research studies, including one with over 1000+ participants. This experience has equipped me with transferable skills in attention to detail, multitasking, and scheduling.

In my previous roles in private homes, I have taken on all responsibilities related to childcare. This includes implementing toy rotations, designing functional learning spaces within the home, managing children's wardrobes and room organization, creating behavioral support materials, coordinating with teachers, aides, and therapists, assembling furniture, traveling with families, and scheduling children's activities.

Beyond my formal qualifications, I take pride in my creativity, sense of fun, and compassion. I have a talent for crafting engaging activities and creating memorable experiences, which I honed during my time as a manager at an inclusive summer camp. I developed and facilitated a program that supported the growth of both neurotypical and neurodivergent children.

I have had the privilege of working with many wonderful families, and I am eager for the opportunity to work with yours as well. If you are seeking a versatile childcare professional with a wide range of skills, I am the right fit for you. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you in person!

MY BELIEFS AS A GENUINE NANNY

I believe... changing the world starts with changing our approach to child development.

I believe... holistic approaches to everything are best.

I believe... in structure that has built-in room for spontaneity.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A NANNY?

I aspire to be a nanny because I genuinely love working with children and their families and find immense fulfillment in contributing to their growth and well-being. It's a privilege to play a pivotal role in their lives, fostering a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn, explore, and develop their unique personalities. My passion for childcare extends beyond the role itself; it reflects my values in promoting inclusivity, compassion, and excellence. I believe in the importance of creating a positive and enriching childhood experience that can have a lasting impact on a child's future. Being a nanny allows me to merge my skills, experience, and values to provide exceptional care and support to families, and it's a role I wholeheartedly embrace with enthusiasm and dedication.

PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS,
WORK ETHIC, AND VALUES:

I'm often described as bubbly, creative, funny, and a bit silly by the families and fellow childcare professionals I've had the privilege to work with. However, beyond my playful side, I've received praise for my knack for establishing and upholding clear expectations and boundaries. My communication style is open and transparent, and I've willingly taken on challenging leadership roles. Over the years, I've been honored with several awards that I believe truly reflect my strengths. In high school, I was awarded the "overall excellence" accolade, which, though initially unexpected, later felt like the perfect recognition of my versatile abilities. As a graduate of Cal Poly, I received two awards from the Psychology and Child Development department: one for Outstanding Leadership and another for Best Senior Project. The leadership award acknowledged my roles on department boards and as the president of the Psychology Club, while the Best Senior Project award highlighted my unwavering persistence, perseverance, and strong work ethic during a multi-year project. These awards serve as tokens of recognition from both advisors and peers, affirming my dedication to my craft. I'm excited to bring these qualities to my work and continue creating positive and enriching experiences for the children and families I have the privilege of serving.

WHAT ARE YOUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY AND CHILD-REARING VALUES?

My discipline philosophy and child-rearing values are rooted in the belief that proactive strategies can significantly reduce conflicts. To foster a harmonious environment, I emphasize setting clear expectations and boundaries with children right from the start while ensuring their basic needs, such as sleep, nutrition, and hydration, are met. Open communication is vital, as I encourage children to express their feelings and provide them with coping skills to enhance their resilience. I firmly advocate for applying natural consequences, where the consequence directly relates to the action, promoting a valuable learning experience. For instance, if a child resorts to hitting to acquire a toy, the natural consequence would involve not granting access to the toy, encouraging the child to seek more appropriate ways of sharing, and teaching them the importance of responsible actions. Moreover, I firmly believe in granting children the opportunity to rectify their mistakes, as my ultimate goal is to guide them toward understanding and embracing appropriate and expected behaviors.
