What to Expect

It is my job to make this an easy and enjoyable experience for you and your family. My goal is to truly understand the qualities and experiences that you are looking for in a nanny and to introduce you to my select matches for your family!  Here is how it works:

In home consultation – This is a critical part of my process and what separates me from other agencies.  Being in your home and learning about your family’s dynamics and expectations will allow me to have a clearer vision of your ideal nanny.  We will discuss in detail what qualities are important to you and what type of person you envision for this job.  We will also discuss the nanny’s schedule, on job expectations, personality attributes, and family philosophies.

The selection process begins – Once I have a clear understanding of what you are looking for in a nanny, I will begin the process of interviewing potential candidates.  I put each nanny through a three-part interview process.  This process includes a phone interview, a face-to-face interview and a thorough reference check.  Once I have qualified candidates that match your description, I will send you their Nanny Profile.  Each Nanny Profile includes a comprehensive summary of the nannies background, qualifications, and work related experience.  I will also include detailed notes from my interviews with each candidate.

In-home interviews – Once you and your family have decided that you are interested in a candidate, you will have the opportunity to conduct an interview with the nanny. This is your chance to learn as much as you can about each candidate to determine if this person has the qualities you are looking for.  You and I will debrief after each interview so that I can ensure we are on the right track.

Working interview –You can choose one or more candidates to ask back for a 1–5 day on the job interview.  This is an opportunity to connect with the nanny and find out if they would be a good fit for your family.  I recommend that at least one parent be home for at least part of the working interview. The working interview is your chance to set expectations with your nanny and to observe how they interact with your child and with the rest of your family.

Conditional hire – If you decide you would like to officially hire the Nanny, you will want to provide her with a conditional work offer.  This work offer will include everything from the nannies schedule, on the job expectations, pay rate, benefits, and completion of any certificates, background checks or vaccinations.  I will provide you with a template that you can use when putting together the conditional work offer.

Background Check - All my nannies go through two separate backgroud checks.  The first backgound check is done before the nanny offically starts in your home and offers immediate results including a criminal, social security, county and driving record report.  The second is done simultaneously through Trustline, administered by the California's Department of Social services including the Department of Justice and FBI.

Post-hire needs – Should you have a lapse in care or need standby childcare, I am happy to provide temporary or on-call babysitters.  Tax and contract services are also provided through my partners at Legally Nanny.
